A NEW, PERMANANT LOCATION
Residents of many of the Stateline communities are provided with an opportunity to participate in curbside recycling programs. Some communities do not provide a recycling alternative to landfilling. Others who live in apartments, condos, or in outlying areas of the county, etc. do not have curbside recycling programs. What are they supposed to do? One alternative is the Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful Recycling Center located in Roscoe, Illinois. KNIB operates the only all-volunteer staffed and operated recycling center in northern Illinois. Located in the parking lot at 5253 McCurry Road in Roscoe, this operation collects more than 12 tons of materials for recycling each month.

Local residents are invited to drop off glass or plastic containers, laser and ink jet printer cartridges, metal cans, aluminum, corrugated cardboard and paper products at no cost. The Recycling Center is provided as a public service to residents without curbside recycling collection. Materials collected are then processed for recycling.
Northern Illinois’ only all-volunteer recycling program, in continuous operation snce July, 1990,
the Recycling Center is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon (unless the wind chill is below zero).
