Working fire extinguishers are under pressure and have the potential to explode if punctured.
They cannot be discarded curbside and are not accepted at the Household Hazardous Waste Site.
Check pressure gauge: The extinguisher should indicate if it’s overcharged, at the correct pressure or in need of a recharge.
For re-charging or proper disposal of an extingusher still under pressure:
If extinguisher is empty and no longer under pressure:Once dis-assembled, you may recycle the steel body at a metals recycler such as:
