Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful (KNIB) is an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful.

A privately operated, public-spirited, environmental protection and quality of life project, Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful was founded in 1988 with one goal in mind:  to keep the people, families, communities and natural surroundings of Winnebago and Boone Counties healthy and whole.

Its goal is to make this area the Midwest’s #1 place for families to work and live.

Public Hours:  2-5 p.m. Tuesdays & 9 a.m.-Noon Saturdays

Public Hours:  9-Noon Saturdays only

No Dumping after hours!

*Rockford Recycle Center (only) now accepting TVs, computer monitors during regular hours (see above)

Free disposal of up to 2 Televisions or Computer Monitors (CRTs) per vehicle,

TV parts or partially disassembled units included.

You must be able to lift and place units in designated bin as directed. Bring help if needed. 

Rockford Recycle Center also accepts appliances containing refrigerant (Freon); $20 cash

  • Fee per each item funds refrigerant removal and certification tag.

Roscoe Recycle Center DOES NOT accept TVs, Computer Monitors, or Freon Appliances.

Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful Recycle Centers provide a community service,

staffed by volunteers — your help is needed!

Shift can be 2.5 hours or up to 4 hours, as often as your schedule allows.

 Welcome new Executive Director Pam Osborne!

The Board of Directors has appointed Pam Osborne of Rockford to serve as Executive Director. She began in that capacity November 1. She has been the Administrative Manager since early 2016.

Pam looks forward to working with volunteers to achieve the Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful goals for new growth, environmental education and beautification projects in Winnebago and Boone Counties.
